Acquiring copies of manuscripts is quite expensive but luckily more and more libraries are making available parts, or even all, of their collections to researchers online. Here’s an initial list of sites you can visit to access, and sometimes even download, manuscripts for free. We’ll update this as we find more collections online.
- Wellcome Arabic Manuscripts Online
- Princeton Digital Library of Islamic Manuscripts
- Bodleian Oriental Manuscripts Collections
- National Library of Bulgaria, Digital Library
- University of Michigan
- Bibliothèque nationale de France (BNF)
- Leipzig University
- American University of Beirut
- University of California, Los Angeles (Minassian Collection, partial)
- Bayerische StaatsBibliothek
- Library of Congress Islamic Manuscripts from Mali
- Marmara University
- Al-Mostafa.com
